Wennapuwa to National Basilica - Thewatta by Nissan Leaf Car
I’m going to share my
Nissan LEAF trip from Wennappuwa to Teawatta National Basilica church – Ragama and
returned to Wennappuwa which was recorded on 2016 Jan 13. I stated the journey
around 8.30am with outside temperature 22C. This time I passengers and luggage weight was
around 300kg. I started to drive when
the battery was 98% of Nissan Leaf car.
My route: Wennappuwa-Kandana-Ragama- Thewatte National Basilica Church – Delpe Junction – Mahabage – Kandana - Wennappuwa .
Let’s see how I drive to the destination. We stopped the car after turning from Kandana to have the breakfast. When we reached to Basilica of Our Lady of Lanka – Thewatta (45km) the battery drained to 60% from 98% (38% wasted).
The Latin word basilica has three distinct applications in modern English. The word was originally used to describe an ancient Roman public building where courts were held, After the Roman Empire became officially Christian, the term referred specifically to a large or important church given special ceremonial rites by the Pope. By the end of 2008 there were 1,584 basilicas worldwide (four classified as “major”, the remainder as “minor”).

As you near the vehicle entrance to the National Basilica at
Thewatte you pass the magnificent approach to the holy building for those on
foot. This approach consists of a series of extensively wide flights of steps
descending then ascending into the distance, encroached upon by large swathes
of woodland. At the farthest end of the steps the
Basilica stands, partly obscured by foliage. Yet it can be sufficiently
observed to realize that its curious architectural elements are unfamiliar
in Roman Catholicism.

We spent several hours at Tewatta National basilica and then
continued our journey. We went to a relations’ house at Delpe Junction and we
had our lunch there. After spent couple of hours we went Mahabage. We spent few
minutes there. After that we came to
Kandana. We spent few hours there and back to Wennappuwa. On the way we spent
several places to do shopping. When we could reached to Wennappuwa around 7.30pm.
So when I reached to the destination (103km) 18% remaining
battery from 98%.
Total Destination: 103.2km
Total Battery Wastage: 80%
km/per 1% = 1.29km (103/80)
